Final project focused on redesigning and illustrating a new version of the classic story "The Little Mermaid" for children between 2 and 6 years old.

End-of-degree project focused on re-designing and illustrating a new version of the classic fairytale “The Little Mermaid” for readers between 2 and 6 years old.

It follows the narrative thread of the original story, but eliminates gender stereotypes and discrimination. Instead, it promotes important values such as empathy, diversity, self-love and respect for nature. With the message "you don't have to change who or how you are to fit in", the main objective is to bring children closer to literature and classic tales, offering stories that are closer to our society and their experiences and needs.

This project received an honourable mention and was subsequently successfully crowdfunded and self-published. You can visit the whole publishing campaign and buy your copy in the links below:

The book is designed to have an easy to follow visual narrative, guiding our sight throughout the illustrations to make the story easy to understand to little audiences.

This story is accompanied by double-page illustrations full of colours, textures and details that will allow children to enjoy each part of the book and get to know the tale of the little mermaid.

A whole new underwater world and characters were designed, to appeal to the public's eye with a captivating colour palette.
